CINCINNATI – Gold Star is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to benefit the hospital’s vision of becoming the leader in improving child health. A portion of every milkshake purchased will be donated back to the hospital.

To support Gold Star’s fundraising initiative for Cincinnati Children’s, simply visit any Gold Star restaurant serving shakes and make a purchase. A portion of that sale will automatically be donated to the hospital. The offer is valid on shakes purchased in restaurants, drive-thru or via delivery service.

Gold Star and Cincinnati Children’s have been collaborators since 2000, donating more than $290,000 to the hospital over the years. The restaurant has a location within the hospital’s main campus food court, and all royalties – typically $10,000-15,000 – are donated back to the hospital each year by the restaurant.

Funds raised will be used by Cincinnati Children’s to support clinical and research initiatives that have the greatest potential to quickly impact pediatric medicine for children in Cincinnati and around the world. Priority areas include the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute, the Heart Institute and the Perinatal Institute, as well as core infrastructures in genetics and bioinformatics.

“Gold Star’s founding value is to treat everyone like family,” said Gold Star President and CEO Roger David. “When someone in your family is in need, you do what you can to help them. We see this expanded partnership with Cincinnati Children’s as a great way to help our extended family – the community we serve – in what can be some of their most trying times by ensuring the hospital has the resources needed to continue to provide best-in-the-nation care to their children.”

“Our vision at Gold Star is to live in a more hospitable world,” David continued. “Finding meaningful ways to give back to the community that supports us is one of the best ways we can demonstrate that outwardly.”

“On behalf of everyone at Cincinnati Children’s, but most importantly the families counting on us for world-class care, we can’t thank our friends at Gold Star enough,” says Jane Hollenbeck, Donor Relations Officer. “Their support helps our experts advance research and improve care for kids not just here in our community, but across the country and around the world.”

Gold Star’s milkshakes are made with 100 percent real ice cream, blended and topped with whipped cream. Flavors include chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookies and cream, banana cream pie and strawberry shortcake.

The organizations will celebrate the launch of the new initiative by hosting a kick-off party with Cincinnati Children’s Champion families 4-6 p.m. on Monday, August 12 at the Anderson Twp. restaurant, 7716 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45255. Champions are patients and their families that support the institution by helping it celebrate, advocate and raise funds. Champion families will be treated to a private party, including complimentary Gold Star chili ways, coneys and – of course – milkshakes for the entire family.
